Bodoland Peoples Front [ BPF ]

The Bodoland People's Front (BPF) is a state political party in Assam state in northeastern India. The party is located in the area of Bodoland majorly in an area around Kokrajhar. The major ambition of the party is to create a new state called Bodoland for Bodo people.The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) is a political party of the state level representing the state of Assam. The party which has its current headquarters at Kokrajhar in Assam is being led by Hagrama Mohilary. The party leaders and workers have been consistently working towards the welfare of the Bodo regions since the time the party was founded.

In 2011, with 12 elected lawmakers, the BPF initially supported the Congress government, primarily because of the efforts of Himanta Biswa Sarma, the former minister in the Tarun Gogoi government who later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.The party president Hagrama Mohilary saw this alliance as a sign of change for the better for Assam and also for the development of the Bodoland Council Areas. He also stated that an additional central fund of 1000 crores would be given to the Bodoland Council Area and they would have to make use of it within three years.

The deadliest attack carried out by Bodo Peoples Front was on July 24, 1994 in Banabari, Assam, India. Other were the primary target of this attack and Armed Assault was used. For comparison, the deadliest attack in this groups founding country, was carried out by Lashkar E Taiba on July 12, 2006 in Mumbai, India. Transportation (other than aviation) was the primary target of this attack, which was carried out by Bombing/Explosion. This attack resulted in 834 more casualties than the deadliest attack by BPF.

One of the core ideologies of the party is left wing populism. The party leaders and workers have raised their voice for the common people. They have been working very hard and very consistently towards the welfare of the common people.The party also believes in secularism. They believe that there shouldn’t be any discrimination between people on the basis of their religion.In the 2016 Assembly Elections, the BPF won 12 seats and the alliance was established after Bharatiya Janata Party led National Democratic Alliance which also includes Asom Gana Parishad formed its first government in Assam with Pramila Rani Brahma and Rihon Daimary sworn in as ministers in the Sarbananda Sonowal ministry.

In May 2016, after the Bharatiya Janata Party led National Democratic Alliance formed its first government in Assam, and formed a new alliance called the North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) with Himanta Biswa Sarma as its convener. The Chief Ministers of the north eastern states of Sikkim, Assam and Nagaland too belong to this alliance.
